On 20 October 2011, as invited by China P&I Club Shanghai Office, Mr. Green Zhu and Mr. Felix Sun of Hightime gave a specialist presentation to ship owners in Shanghai Area in their business seminar upon the hot PRC Regulations of 2009 on Prevention and Control of Marine Pollution from Ships (“PRC Pollution Regulations of 2009”) and its complementing measures/bylaws and PRC Supreme Court's Interpretation on Trial of Cases Concerning Dispute over Ship Oil Pollution Damage Compensation (“Supreme Court’s Interpretation on Oil Pollution”).
Combining administrative and judicial practices, focusing on PRC Pollution Regulations of 2009 and its complementing measures and Supreme Court's Interpretation on Oil Pollution, our two lawyers detailed hot issues of aforesaid two topics like the nature of clean-up costs, priority of MSA cleanup claims over other pollution damage claims, legal issues that may arise from mandatory agreement for Ship Pollution Response, limitation of ship owners’ liability to oil pollution damage compensation caused by Chinese domestic coastal oil tankers, the relationship and coordination between the PRC Pollution Regulations of 2009 and relevant international conventions, mandatory taking pollutant from international trading ships before departure from Chinese ports, liabilities to undertake clean-up costs during salvage operation etc., which won good feedback from the participators. The managers Mr. Yue Yan and Mr. Pu Junlong from China P&I Club Head Office attended this Business Seminar. Mr. Yue made a practical and professional speech on the PRC Pollution Regulations of 2009 as well.
